Here at Heritage hair we have something for everyone. No matter the type, length, or amount of hair you have, we can work with you to create your keepsake.
When done carefully collecting hair is unlikely to have a visible effect on a horses tail.
Although tail hair is recommended some mane hair is suitable for pendants.
Any hair or ashes, from any pet or person can be used in our resin products.
When collecting tail hair you will need to:
- Make sure the hair is brushed and clean. Part the hair to the dock on the underside where the hair is longest. If you take from the top there is a chance you will collect short hairs that can’t be used for certain products.
- Measure out a section to the right amount for the item you would like made (the amount of hair required can be found with the item listing). If you need a pencil thickness of hair then make sure this is the thickness towards the bottom of the selected section. Short hairs are removed before braiding so this will affect the final thickness. This may mean the bundle is thicker than required at the top.
- Secure the hair near the dock with a band and cut between the band and the dock as close to the dock as possible.
- Coil the hair loosely, if you do this too tight it could kink the hair. Do not plait or braid the hair as this will kink in transit and may make it difficult to work with. Place the hair, still secured with the band, in a freezer bag or similar. Please write your name on the bag or on a piece of paper placed inside the bag so that we can link your hair to your order.
